Which web-centric podcast is the best?
The Blackmagic Web presenter Peter Weber has recently joined the ranks of the likes of Brian Eno and Björk, and has been making waves in the music world with his innovative podcasting style.
He’s currently releasing his fourth album, which you can listen to below, and the two-time Grammy nominee has also created a popular YouTube channel that has over 10 million subscribers.
But when it comes to the podcasting world, Weber’s biggest influence has to be his two-year stint with the podcast network, Blackmagic.
While the platform was a major force behind Blackmagic’s rise to prominence, Weber wasn’t just looking to join the ranks, he also spent years working with the platform to make sure the podcasts he was producing were well-received by listeners.
“Blackmagic was a great way for me to build my career, because I was part of a very large community and there were a lot of people around me who were passionate about music,” Weber said in a recent interview with Polygon.
“I was very fortunate that I was able to work with the right people and get the right experience.”
Werner first heard about the Blackmagic Podcast Network in the fall of 2014, when a friend of his was running an online course called The Newbie Network, which was essentially a tutorial series designed to help aspiring musicians learn how to create and distribute their own music on a professional level.
After receiving feedback from subscribers, Weber was invited to join a Blackmagic team that would help him make his podcast debut.
“It was really exciting to be a part of the podcast team,” Weber told Polygon in an email.
“It was a little intimidating, but I was super grateful to have been a part.
I was lucky enough to get to work on a project I really enjoyed, so I felt really lucky to be able to contribute to something I loved.
It was definitely a blessing to be part of this.”
It was during this time that Weber began to hone his podcasting skills, and as the two of them continued to work together on the platform, the podcast became more and more of a part time job for Weber.
In the early stages of the project, he worked as a writer and editor on the first episodes of his podcasts, which served as a nice change of pace from the work he had been doing with Blackmagic as a regular member of the company.
Weber said the podcast’s popularity and growing popularity with subscribers helped propel the podcast to the top of his list of podcasts to listen to.
“As a long time subscriber, I was extremely grateful to be the first to listen and share my experiences on this incredible platform,” Weber wrote in an e-mail.
“There is no doubt that Blackmagic helped shape the future of podcasts, and now I have an opportunity to work at an amazing company that gives me an incredible platform to help shape the next generation of listeners.”
After joining the BlackMagic Podcast Network, Weber continued to make his podcasts and continue to promote the platform with regular appearances on his YouTube channel.
“I was just blown away by the support from Blackmagic fans and the community,” Weber recalled.
“The response to my podcasts has been tremendous, and I’m very thankful for that support and the support that I get from the community, because that’s really what matters.”
In addition to the regular shows on the Blackmagic network, Weber also hosts his own podcast series, The Black Magic Podcast, which he describes as a mix of a radio show and a web series.
The episodes consist of Weber talking with guests like The Doors’ Tom Jones and Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and features guests like Chris Brown, The Weeknd, and Adele.
In some of the podcasts, Weber talks about his experiences working with BlackMagic.
“We’ve had some great conversations with some amazing people,” Weber explained.
“People like Thom Yorkes, Adele, Chris Brown… it’s a great mix of people that I love.
It’s a mix between a radio station and a podcast.”
Blackmagic hosts have continued to thrive, with Weber even producing an episode of the Black Magic Show with his own guests.
“Peter Weber is one of the most important people in the history of the technology,” Blackmagic president and CEO John Pritchard said in an interview with NPR.
“Peter is an incredible and incredible leader, and he has been able to create an incredibly important platform for artists and listeners around the world to reach the world.
I think we owe a debt to Peter for creating a platform for so many people to reach their potential and create the things that they are passionate about.”
With a wide range of podcasts and channels that have been created by Blackmagic employees, Weber has had the chance to spend a lot more time with the company over the years.
For Weber, the success of the platform has also been an important step in his career as a podcaster,
