Why the Bears won’t be buying the Giants
What happens when the Bears go all in on a draft pick?
The team hasn’t made a commitment to acquire any player and there are other issues to consider as well, including the possibility that they won’t receive a first-round pick at all.
Still, the Bears have been a bit of a gamble in free agency.
They drafted quarterback Mitchell Trubisky in the first round of the 2017 draft, but he has struggled since.
That could be because they are a bit out of the picture at quarterback, and that’s where Trubisko’s inexperience might be more concerning.
Trubism’s agent, Michael Dunn, said he was not surprised that the Bears took Trubisks pick.
“There is no way he is going to get drafted in the top five, but the Bears will take the best player available,” Dunn said.
“That is what they have done.”
Bears head coach John Fox told the team’s website that he didn’t think it was a great idea to take a quarterback with Trubisms pro day results.
Trubs struggles have been magnified because he has a history of knee injuries, and the Bears believe that could put a strain on the quarterback’s rehabilitation.
“He has played with a lot of injury,” Fox said of Trubries knee.
“I don’t think you can go into the next year with a player like that and not be concerned about him.
It would seem unlikely that the team would have enough cap space to spend in the draft if they were to sign a quarterback, especially given that they are one of the most expensive franchises in the NFL. “
The Bears also have another quarterback with a history on the injury front in Trevor Siemian, who suffered a season-ending knee injury during the preseason and is listed as day-to-day with a hamstring injury.
It would seem unlikely that the team would have enough cap space to spend in the draft if they were to sign a quarterback, especially given that they are one of the most expensive franchises in the NFL.
The Bears’ best hope in free agent acquisition might be trading up in the second round to acquire a quarterback.
But they also could choose to move up to draft a quarterback because they would likely want a top-tier quarterback, such as Trubris or Josh McCown, to take their job.
The team has not made a decision on whether or not to re-sign quarterback Jay Cutler, who was cut by the Bears on Friday.
“If you take a guy like Josh McCampy or Jay Cutler or Josh Freeman and try and trade up and get a guy that’s a starter, I don’t know how you’re going to win with that. “
They have to make the decision whether they can go to a couple of different places and try to find the right player,” Dunn told ESPN.com.
“If you take a guy like Josh McCampy or Jay Cutler or Josh Freeman and try and trade up and get a guy that’s a starter, I don’t know how you’re going to win with that.
It’s going to be a lot tougher than you think.”
The Bears will have to be patient in making a decision about their quarterback situation.
They have had some bad luck in the past with quarterbacks, including trading for Josh Freeman in the early 1990s.
The next time a team does that, they might not be as lucky as they were with Jay Cutler.
“It’s a long-term deal,” Fox told ESPN on Thursday.
“We’re all in it together.
You have to go in and do the best you can.
If we are the Bears, we’re going in the right direction.”
